Turning two into one . The Magic of Marriage
WEDDINGS - types legal requirements, overseas immigration
I know there is so much to do and it does not have to be stressful ….. it needs to be a time of fun and remembered for all the right reasons.
“Not really magic ….. just Marriage according to Australian Law”.
First of all, I would love to discuss your plans. I can send you a Notice of Intended Marriage (NIM) form, which needs to be completed and lodged 30 days prior to your wedding day. I will meet with you to assist you to complete the NIM and witness your signatures. If distance is a problem, then the internet can assist the process.
If this is your first time married for you and your partner are/have:
- Never Married - I will need to see either your Original Birth Certificate or Passport.
- Divorced – I will need to see either your Original Birth Certificate or Passport & Divorce Certificate from the last marriage.
- Widowed – I will need to see either your Original Birth Certificate or Passport & Death Certificate.
If you or your partner are currently residing overseas I can provide support documents for immigration/visa purposes – Fiancé Visa.
Don’t worry I will assist you with all the documentation before, during the ceremony - even afterwards. The legal documentation is my responsibility so you can you can leave this to me, while you get on with all the fun stuff. When, where, who and how.
Once the formalities have been taken care of, we can discuss your plans and maybe suggest some ideas and I will let you see a selection of formal and informal ceremonies – including legal vows, readings, poetry or symbolic and cultural gestures. You may like to acknowledge your children, love ones (past and present), Country or any other significant subject which means a lot to you – no problems at all.
I specialise with people who are shy or limited English language skills OR those with special assistance with hearing or speech impediments.
TYPES OF WEDDINGS
If you have already booked your wedding at one of the many venues, or specialized wedding reception/resorts…. No problems. I can still marry you there…. because it is your right to have the Celebrant of your choice, despite the fact that some venues will have you believe otherwise.
If you need some ideas on venues or professional services please click my Handy Links page for some professional services.
Your wedding can be a formal or modern contemporary style – an extravaganza, or, an intimate affair for the two.
You may even like to consider a theme wedding to reflect your common beliefs and interests including beach, Medieval or fairy tale. There is also the “surprise element”, when your guests are in attendance to celebrate a different occasion such as a special age birthday, festive or even New Year …. Only to find they are attending your wedding. Some couples stage their engagement party announcing their intention to marry….. only to be married then and there. I am only too happy to go along with the conspiracy and dress according to the script we create.
